About Us
Athens Public Transit (APT) is a fixed-route public bus system serving the City of Athens, Ohio, including Albany, Nelsonville, the Village of Chauncey, and The Plains. Athens Public Transit has a highly trained and dedicated group of drivers. In addition to the drivers, Athens Public Transit staff includes a coordinator, manager, dispatcher, and mechanic. Athens Public Transit would not be possible without the support and cooperation of a diverse team of organizational partners (City of Athens, Office of Transit, and Federal Transit Administration).

Upcoming Holiday Closure: Thursday November 28th & Friday November 29th, services will resume on Monday December 2nd.
--Line 7n service between Nelsonville and Albany has been reduced to run once every other hour on even hours. The first run will begin in Athens at the Mulberry Street / Baker Center hub at 8:00 am. The last run will leave Nelsonville at 6:00 pm and end at the Mulberry Street / Baker Center hub at 7:00 pm.
APT has transitioned away from DoubleMap and will be without real-time tracking during this time.

Line 3 runs from Market on State on East State Street to Andover Road in Athens
Route Frequency: Once every hour

Line 4 runs from Market on State on East State Street to 2nd Street in Athens

Summit
APT provides bus service to The Summit at Coates Run apartment complex.
Fall Semester 2024 Summit at Coats Run Schedule
(August 26 - December 12)
Weekday Loop, Mon-Fri, 7:00a - 9:30p.
Mornings - Leaves Summit every 15 minutes, 7:00a - 12:45p
Afternoons/Evenings - Leaves Summit every half hour, 12:10p - 9:30p
Weekend Night Owl Loop, Fri, 9:30p-2:30a - Sat, 9:05p - 2:05a
Late bus leaves Summit every 30 minutes.
No service on Sundays or holidays.
No service during Sundays or the following holidays:
- Labor Day: Mon Sept 2nd
- Veterans Day: Mon Nov 11th
- Thanksgiving Break: Wed Nov 27th – Sat Nov 30th
Reduced service:
- Fall Break: Fri Oct 11th. The shuttle will run 2pm to 2am

Courtyard
APT provides bus service to University Courtyard apartment complex.
Fall Semester 2024 Courtyard Schedule (August 26 - December 21)
Weekday Loop Mon-Fri (Departs Courtyard Every 30 Minutes).
Mon-Wed: starts 7:05am, ends 8:03pm
Thur: starts 7:05am, ends 9:53pm
Fri: starts 7:05am, ends 8:05pm
Weekend Night Owl Loop (Departs Courtyard every 20 minutes).
Fri: starts 8:05pm, ends 2:00am
Sat: starts 9:05pm, ends 2:00am
No service during Sundays or the following holidays:
- Labor Day: Monday September 2
- Veterans Day: Monday November 11
- Thanksgiving Brake: Wednesday November 27 - Saturday November 30
Reduced Service:
- Fall Brake - Friday October 11 : Shuttle from 2pm - 2am
Reasonable Modification
APT provides reasonable modification to policies and procedures to customers to ensure they can effectively use the agency’s transit services.
