OUR PARTNERS

Athens Public Transit would not be possible without the support and cooperation of a diverse team of organizational partners. Each has a key role in helping our system perform to its fullest potential.

Thank You to Our Drivers!

Athens Public Transit drivers are a highly trained and dedicated group. From vehicle inspections at 6:30 am to the final cleaning routine when they get back to the garage at the end of a long day, these are the people who keep our system running. Drivers begin their training by studying to pass the commercial driver’s license tests. They also complete training modules, including defensive driving, passenger assistance and sensitivity, first aid, biohazard handling, emergency procedures, and wheelchair securement and lift operation. Several of our drivers have been steering buses around the city since the early days of transit in Athens.  In addition to the drivers, Athens Public Transit staff includes a coordinator, manager, dispatcher, and mechanic.
