About Us
Athens Public Transit (APT) is a fixed-route public bus system serving the City of Athens, Ohio, including Albany, Nelsonville, the Village of Chauncey, and The Plains. Athens Public Transit has a highly trained and dedicated group of drivers. In addition to the drivers, Athens Public Transit staff includes a coordinator, manager, dispatcher, and mechanic. Athens Public Transit would not be possible without the support and cooperation of a team of organizational partners (City of Athens, Office of Transit, and Federal Transit Administration).

Line 2 runs from Holzer Clinic on East State Street to Campus Heights on Richland Ave in Athens
Route Frequency: Once every hour
Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday 7:30am to 7:23pm
Saturday service is temporarily suspended.
Effective Monday, December 16: Line 2 service will be extended until 8:22PM.
Line 3
Line 3 runs from Market on State on East State Street to Andover Road in Athens
Route Frequency: Once every hour
Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday 6:48am to 9:56pm
Saturday service is temporarily suspended
Line 4
Line 4 runs from Market on State on East State Street to 2nd Street in Athens

Summit
APT provides bus service to The Summit at Coates Run apartment complex.
Fall 2025 Summit Schedule (August 25 - December 13)
Weekday Loop, Mon-Fri, 7:00a - 9:30p.
Mornings - Leaves Summit every 15 minutes, 7:15a - 12:15p
Afternoons/Evenings - Leaves Summit every half hour, 12:00p - 9:30p
Weekend Night Owl Loop, Fri-Sat, 9:30p - 2:30a
Late bus leaves Summit every 30 minutes. 9:30p - 2:00a
No service during Sundays or the following holidays:
- Labor Day: Mon Sept 1st
- Veterans Day: Tues Nov 11th
- Thanksgiving Break: Wed Nov 26th – Sat Nov 30th

Courtyard
APT provides bus service to University Courtyard apartment complex.
Fall Semester 2025 Courtyard Schedule (August 25 - December 20)
Weekday Loop Mon-Fri (Departs Courtyard Every 30 Minutes).
Mon-Wed: starts 7:05am, ends 8:00 pm
Thur: starts 7:05am, ends 10:15 pm
Fri: starts 7:05am, ends 9:00 pm
Weekend Night Owl Loop (Departs Courtyard every 20 minutes).
Fri: starts 9:05pm, ends 2:00am
Sat: starts 9:35pm, ends 2:00am
No service during Sundays or the following holidays:
- Labor Day: Monday September 1
- Veterans Day: Tuesday November 11
- Thanksgiving Break: Wednesday November 26 - Saturday November 30
Reduced Service:
- Fall Break - Friday October 10 : Shuttle from 2pm - 2am
Reasonable Modification
APT provides reasonable modification to policies and procedures to customers to ensure they can effectively use the agency’s transit services.
