Paratransit Service:

Athens On Demand Transit will be providing affordable, county-wide transportation to the general public as well as paratransit passengers. Athens Public Transit will continue to provide fixed route transportation.

Fares

Athens On Demand's general public passengers will pay $2.00 for a one-way trip. Reduced-fare ID cost is $1.00 one-way.

Athens Public Transit fares will stay as they are. General public passengers pay $1.00 one-way. Reduced-fare ID cost is $0.50 one-way.

Paratransit & Demand Response Hours

Paratransit service is available to qualified applicants following a functional assessment made by APT staff and healthcare professionals. To qualify, please have a healthcare professional complete and sign the bottom half of the reduced fare certification form.
Athens Public Transit will honor requests for paratransit trips starting and ending within 3/4 mile of the original route. In some cases, a review by the Administrator or Operator may be necessary to determine whether a requested trip is within the service area. Such reviews will be undertaken promptly at the time of the request. The office hours for paratransit trip scheduling are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at 740-592-2727 or the Ohio Relay TTY line at 1-800-750-0750.
Athens on Demand Transit will operate between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Scheduling

To schedule a general public passenger ride or paratransit pickup, passengers will need to call Athens On Demand Transit at (740) 597-2404. Passengers must call at least 24 hours in advance. Rides are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Paratransit passengers have priority. Please make sure to also schedule your return home.
