Community Empowerment Specialist

We are excited to announce an immediate opening for a Community Empowerment Specialist.  As a member of our team, you will work to empower individuals and communities through advocacy, quality service, food access and equity for our rural neighbors.

Responsibilities of this position include coordinating with community organizations to deliver valuable resource guidance for vulnerable populations and neighbors. This includes determining eligibility for services, completing intake, and conducting one on one case management. Due to the large service area that the agency covers, this individual will be expected to travel for up to 50% of hours worked.

In addition to the duties outlined above, the specialist will be responsible for administering the Southeast Ohio Foodbank’s SNAP Application and Outreach Assistance Program. This includes attending community events, tabling at partner agencies, helping neighbors complete SNAP applications, as well as developing creative ways to conduct SNAP outreach including training other persons and organizations on SNAP guidelines.

Ideal candidates will be technologically savvy to include Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and iPads. Applicants should be mission driven and have an interest in serving Southeast Appalachian Ohio. A high school diploma or GED is required. Prior experience with SNAP is preferred, but not required. Additionally, lived experience with poverty is valued and can supplement for work experience.

A valid driver’s license and background check are required.

This is a full-time position with a hybrid work environment and flexibility. The salary is $36,000 yearly. The agency provides mileage reimbursement for qualifying travel related to employment duties, as well as paid vacation and sick time. Additionally, the agency also provides a free full fringe benefits package to employees.

Foodbank Clerk

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is now accepting resumes for the position of Foodbank Clerk stationed at our Regional Food Center in Logan. This position assists the Southeast Ohio Foodbank with a range of clerical tasks. Candidates must possess strong time management and organizational skills. Basic computer skills are essential. We are looking for a smart, hardworking team member that wants to work collaboratively towards ending hunger in Southeast Ohio. Must be highly motivated and be very detail oriented. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy.

Duties include, but are not limited to: high volume data entry using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other computer software. Reviewing and processing agency orders. Preparing, compiling, and sorting data for filing. Reviewing incoming shipments and creating pallet tags. Creating and entering orders and donation forms. Completing and maintaining data with integrity and accuracy. Completing regular reports and responding to requests to retrieve data.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Candidates must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record. Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. One year of office experience is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office is a plus. The salary for this position is $30,000 annually and includes a full fringe benefits package.

Warehouse Associate

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is recruiting to fill a Warehouse Associate position for the Southeast Ohio Foodbank & Regional Kitchen.  Job responsibilities include overseeing the fulfillment of orders; picking up donated food from grocery chains or other donors; maintaining paperwork, invoices, signature logs, and records of donated food; unloading all incoming deliveries; assisting the Foodbank Coordinator in physical inventory of all products received into the Foodbank; and assisting in the general cleaning of all warehouse, freezer, cooler, and dry storage space.

Center Based Teacher - Athens & Nelsonville

This is a 40 hour per week position working 10 months per year. Applicants must have an Associate Degree in a related field with preference given to those with a BA. Salary is $16.13 – $20.98 per hour, depending on educational qualifications with a full benefit package.

Head Start Bus Driver in Athens

This is a 17 hour per week, 10-month position at $17.38 an hour.  Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a school bus endorsement and be able to pass drug and alcohol screenings.  Must have the ability to cope with stressful situations as related to pre-school and special needs children.

Early Head Start Home Visitor - Athens, Nelsonville, New Lexington

This is a 40 hour per week position working 12 months per year.  Applicants must have an Associate Degree in a related field with preference given to those with a BA.   Salary is $12.50 – $18.05 per hour, depending on educational qualifications with a full benefit package.

Housing Rehab Specialist

The essential job functions of the Housing Rehab Specialist are the day-to-day operations of the Community Housing Impact & Preservation Program (CHIP) and Ohio Housing Trust Fund (OHTF) Housing programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for initial and final home inspections which includes being knowledgeable of the State of Ohio’s Residential Rehab Standards (RRS).

Additional duties will include creating job specifications and being able to relay those specifications to clients and contractors effectively as well as management of contractors to ensure work is being done properly and per the specifications. Person must be knowledgeable in all construction trades. Must be able to communicate well with others including funding sources, clients, suppliers, and contractors. This position requires agency provided job training such as but not limited to Lead Risk Assessor licensure, EPA Lead Renovation Repair and Painting (RRP) certification and Lead Abatement licensure. Heating Technician

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is excited to announce a new position at the
agency, Heating Technician. HAPCAP is seeking to recruit one of these positions to
assist our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) program with HVAC
related work as it pertains to energy conservation as well as health and safety in residential settings.

Applicants must have at least one year of HVAC experience (two preferred) and the EPA 608 Technician Certification Type II or Universal. Applicants must be able to work at heights as
well as in confined spaces and must possess an ability to achieve production requirements.
Applicants must be highly organized and attentive to detail, have a strong work ethic, possess a valid Ohio driver’s license, have a good driving record and have access to reliable transportation.

The successful applicant must have or be able to complete training programs such as Heating Technician Training, Heating Unit Inspection, Lead EPA RRP, and OSHA 10. The salary for Heating Technician is $40,000 - $45,000 per year with full fringe benefits including but not limited to paid sick and vacation leave, select paid holidays, and health, dental, and vision

Laborer - Housing & Community Development

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking applications to fill available full time Laborers in our Housing and Community Development Division.  The laborer position provides assistance in completing units for our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) which provides energy efficient measures in client’s homes such as blown in insulation, air sealing, and ventilation.

Applicants must have basic knowledge of or interest in the construction trades, be able to work at heights and/or in confined spaces, and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.   Applicants must have completed or be willing to complete training courses to include but not limited to:  EPA Lead RRP, Basic Weatherization Tactics, Blower Door Use, and OSHA 10.

The position will be based at our Housing Office, located in Nelsonville.  The starting salary is $13.46/ hour ($28,000/yr) with full fringe benefits including but not limited to paid sick and vacation leave, select paid holidays, and health, dental, and vision insurance.
