Senior Nutrition Specialist

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is now accepting resumes for the position of Senior Nutrition Specialist stationed at our Southeast Ohio Foodbank in Logan. This position assists in the operation and oversight of all senior nutrition initiatives related to the Southeast Ohio Regional Kitchen. Candidates must possess strong skills in personal communication with elderly populations, as well as the ability to work with people of all socio-economic backgrounds.

Duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating and compiling all Meals on Wheels data including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports, surveys, and assessment. The successful candidate will also maintain and monitor a centralized intake system for enrolling eligible applicants and recruit new clients to ensure that the programs continue to expand and meet their objectives. The Senior Nutrition Specialist acts as a liaison and serves as the point person for all senior nutrition programs at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank. This position also serves as a back up or fill in for meal deliveries and kitchen preparation.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent with an Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Upon hire, the candidate is required to complete the ServSafe Training during the Probationary Period. Candidates must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record.

Kitchen Programs Coordinator

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is now accepting resumes for the position of Kitchen Programs Coordinator at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank in Logan, which produces food for Meals on Wheels, Summer Meals, Catering, and Head Start meals—providing around 100,000 meals per year to local communities. The Coordinator works to expand access to nutritional meals for all people in our region, with a special focus on children and seniors. This position is responsible for the overall operations and program management of HAPCAP’s Kitchen Programs, ensuring compliance with USDA and Department of Aging nutrition program regulations. A commitment to addressing issues of poverty and hunger in the community is essential. Candidates must possess strong skills in personal communication, as well as the ability to work with and supervise people of all socio-economic backgrounds.

Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining administrative requirements across all kitchen programs; training, managing, and supervising staff; overseeing the daily preparation of all meals and production tasks; conducting food quality control measures including inventory, cooking practices, recipes, and menu development; and serving as a back-up or fill in for meal deliveries and kitchen preparation.

An Associate’s degree or higher is preferred, while a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Culinary experience and/or supervisory experience is preferred but not required. Candidate must be ServSafe certified within the first six months of employment. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record are also required.

Food Access & Workforce Development Coordinator

The coordinator will develop and lead a new market-style food pantry, integrating food access, workforce development, and community supports. The market, located in Logan, will provide neighbors with a grocery-style shopping experience that offers fresh food options and the dignity of choice, along with opportunities for economic mobility through workforce development programming.

We're seeking candidates who are passionate, creative, smart and interested in building a program from the ground up. Community Empowerment Specialist - Part Time

We are excited to announce an immediate opening for a part time Community Empowerment Specialist with our HAPCAP for Health team at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank in Logan, OH. As a member of our team, you will work to further health access, food security, and equity for our rural neighbors.

The part time Community Empowerment Specialist will assist food insecure, low income families with completing SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) applications three days per week. They will do so via referrals and outreach in the community during food distributions, member pantries, and special events. They will assess client needs and assist with accessing other resources and supportive services, as necessary.

Successful candidates will have the ability to work well with a wide range of staff, partners, and neighbors. Additionally, the candidate will need to establish and sustain good relationships with community-based organizations, social service agencies, and managed care providers for referral of participants.

This position is best suited for an organized, data-driven, social individual who enjoys working with diverse groups of people in our community. The part time Community Empowerment Specialist will acquire knowledge of SNAP and other resources within the area and maintain a record of all relevant data associated with their work activities.

Ideal candidates will be technologically adept with programs including Microsoft Office

Suite, especially Excel. Applicants should be mission driven and have an interest in serving Southeast Appalachian Ohio.

A high school diploma or GED is required, but a college degree is preferred. Prior experience in foodbanking, health equity, and/or antipoverty work is preferred, but not required. A valid driver’s license and clear background check are required.

Head Start Positions

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action’s Head Start Program has immediate openings for the following positions:

Center Based Teacher in Athens, Nelsonville, Laurelville, and Logan:  This is a 40 hour per week position working 10 months a year.  Applicants must have at least an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with preference given to those with a BA.  Salary is $17.84 – $22.96 an hour depending on educational qualifications with a full benefit package.

Meal Driver:  This is a 10 hour per week position at $15.00 per hour, 10 months a year.  Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and be insurable. Must have high school diploma or GED and be able to pass a physical exam and a criminal background checks.

Center Coordinator/ Family Partnership in Nelsonville:  This is a full time position working 12 months a year.  Applicants must be able to meet State and Federal licensing requirements for a Child Care Administrator.  A Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education with experience working in a child care setting is preferred.  An Associate degree with relevant experience may be considered.  Salary is 25.53- 26.63 an hour depending on educational qualifications.

Job Coach

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is excited to announce multiple summer Job Coach positions across Hocking, Athens, and Perry Counties.

We are looking for responsible and motivated team players that have a passion for helping others. Ideal candidates are quick learners, highly organized, enjoy spending more time in the field than in the office, have computer experience and possess excellent communications skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: mentoring 14- to 24-year-olds, daily worksite visits, completing paperwork accurately, helping participants develop employment skills, program planning, and fostering a positive relationship between the participants and HAPCAP.

The pay is $15.87 per hour. This is a full time, seasonal position that will start in May and run through early August. All applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.

Seasonal Transit Driver(s)

Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is accepting applications for the position of Seasonal Part-Time and Full-Time Transit Drivers for the Perry County Summer Youth Employment Program, a program funded by the Perry County Department of Job & Family Services. HAPCAP’s mission is to mobilize resources to empower individuals and communities through advocacy and quality services that promote self-sufficiency and improved quality of life.

Seasonal Transit Driver(s): Duties include using a company vehicle or personal vehicle to transport participants to and from work, communicating with participants regarding scheduling requests, and maintaining and coordinating all trip logs and manifests. This is a seasonal, part-time or full-time position and hours may be flexible. The position will operate out of New Lexington. The pay is $15.00 per hour.

Qualifications for the position include, at the minimum, the following: High School Diploma or GED equivalent, strong customer communication skills, basic math skills, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record. In addition, a successful candidate will be subject to a background check and drug and alcohol screening. Familiarity with Perry County is desirable.

Transit Manager with GoBus

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is very excited to announce the immediate opening of Manager for the GoBus Intercity Bus Program. The Manager will join a close-knit, mission-driven team working to combat poverty and improve the lives of individuals across Ohio.

The Manager will be responsible for assigned components of the program including: oversight of daily administrative duties; maintaining and building relationships with vendors and partners; marketing and the marketing budget; and community outreach. The starting salary for this full time position is $40,000 and includes a full fringe benefits package including 100% health, dental, and vision coverage for the employee, paid sick, vacation, and holiday leave, and a 401(k) retirement plan.

Laborer

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking applications to fill available full time Laborers in our Housing and Community Development Division. The laborer position provides assistance in completing units for our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) which provides energy efficient measures in client's homes such as blown in insulation, air sealing, and ventilation. Applicants must have basic knowledge of or interest in the construction trades, be able to work at heights and/or in confined spaces, and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Applicants must have completed or be willing to complete training courses to include but not limited to: EPA Lead RRP, Basic Weatherization Tactics, Blower Door Use, and OSHA 10.

The position will be based at our Housing Office, located in Nelsonville. The starting salary is $15.00/hour ($31,200/yr) with full fringe benefits including but not limited to paid sick and vacation leave, select paid holidays, and health, dental, and vision insurance.

Heating Technician

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is excited to announce a new position at the agency, Heating Technician. HAPCAP is seeking to recruit one of these positions to assist our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) program with HVAC related work as it pertains to energy conservation as well as health and safety in residential settings.

Applicants must have at least one year of HVAC experience (two preferred) and the EPA 608 Technician Certification Type II or Universal. Applicants must be able to work at heights as well as in confined spaces and must possess an ability to achieve production requirements. Applicants must be highly organized and attentive to detail, have a strong work ethic, possess a valid Ohio driver's license, have a good driving record and have access to reliable transportation.

The successful applicant must have or be able to complete training programs such as Heating Technician Training, Heating Unit Inspection, Lead EPA RRP, and OSHA 10. Part Time On Call Maintenance Worker

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is seeking a part time Maintenance Worker to be available to respond to emergency maintenance needs at Creekside Apartments in Chauncey, Ohio outside of standard business hours. The times of possible short notice need to respond will be from 4 PM - 8 AM daily Monday - Friday as well as all weekends and holidays. Hours of work will vary greatly, be inconsistent and will be based solely on after hours need.

Applicants will be expected to be able to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance functions at any of the six buildings at Creekside Apartments and should have 1 year of maintenance experience. Applicants must be able to work on all aspects of the property both inside and out as well as in confined spaces and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Athens Public Transit - Class B & C CDL Drivers

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking dynamic and experienced people to fill available positions for full and part-time Athens Public Transit (APT) CDL Drivers.

APT is a public transit fixed route service in Southeast Ohio. The service connects the communities of Athens, The Plains, Chauncey, Nelsonville, and Albany. This fast-paced and diverse position is responsible for transporting the public to various destinations within the service area whether for work, school, shopping, entertainment, and other locations.

We are looking for applicants who are capable of working individually and as a team, possess excellent driving skills, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. A Class A or B CDL license with passenger and air brake endorsement or Class C CDL license with passenger endorsement is required.

This position will be based at our APT garage, located in Athens. The starting salary for Class A and B CDL licensed driver is $16.35 ($34,000/yr). The starting salary for Class C CDL licensed driver is $15.39/hour ($32,000/yr). Both part-time and full-time positions include paid sick, vacation, and holiday leave. Full-time positions include a full fringe benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to the employee, life insurance at no cost to the employee, and 401(k) enrollment after the first six months of employment with an employer-match program.

Buses operate Monday-Saturday with day, evening, and late-night shifts available.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "B" with passenger endorsement
    (HAPCAP may be able to support applicants to get their passenger endorsement if they don't already have it.)
  • Good driving record.
  • Self-motivated, able to work well both independently and with others.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and report for duty on time; schedule-minded.
  • Must be in good general health and able to pass a DOT-mandated physical.
  • Must have normal vision and hearing with the aid of corrective devices if needed.
  • Must submit to FTA-approved drug/alcohol testing. This is a zero-tolerance work site.
  • Must pass a civilian background check and all DOT certifications and training.
  • Must have good basic math skills.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
