CCMEP Program Specialist

We are excited to announce that we have a Program Specialist position opening for our youth employment programs, the Hocking County Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP), and WIOA Youth Program, both funded by South Central Ohio Job & Family Services. These programs support youth ages 14-24 making the transition out of poverty through education, training, and employment. We strive to empower participants to set their own employment and education goals.

In order to help participants reach their goals, our programs offer a wide range of services. These include tutoring and study skills training, leadership development opportunities, paid and unpaid work experiences with participating employers, and financial literacy education, among many others. Our services provide ample opportunity for participants to develop their soft skills, update and improve their résumés, and explore their options for post-secondary education while meeting regularly with their case manager, the Program Specialist.

Case Management: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: intake activities, referrals to community partners, regular communication with participants, writing case notes, entering information into a state database, and follow up.

Program Development: The Specialist will also help improve current programming and develop new programming that will lead to employment opportunities for low-income youth in Hocking County. These could include, but are not limited to a mentoring program, job shadowing program, internship program, and employment workshops. We are especially looking for someone that will help develop innovative ways to continue to work with participants through COVID-related restrictions.

Administration: The specialist will maintain organized files, submit paperwork to their supervisor in a timely manner and assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.

Qualifications: Applicant must first and foremost be excited and motivated to make a difference in the lives of Hocking County youth. They must also be highly organized, be able to work individually and as a team, possess excellent communication skills, and enjoy working with youth and young adults. A college degree is preferred, but relevant work experience, education, or training may be sufficient. Applicant must also have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. This is a full time position that will begin in January. The annual salary for this position starts at $30,000 and includes a full fringe benefits package. It will be based out of the Regional Food Center in Logan, OH.

Broadband Coordinator

We are excited to announce the immediate position opening of a new position, the Athens County Broadband Coordinator. The Coordinator will be responsible for the development of an Athens County Coordinated Broadband Plan. This will include, but not be limited to identifying gaps in service, conducting meetings with community stakeholders and the public, coordinating with regional development districts on the development and implementation of regional broadband strategies, and applying for grants and other funding as appropriate. The salary range for this full time position starts at $39,000 and includes a full fringe benefits package.

Applicants should be capable of working individually and as a team, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, think creatively, and enjoy working with others. In addition, applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of being self-motivated, have the ability to multi-task while working in a fast paced environment, and be willing to learn new skills. Basic knowledge of common computer programs such as Word, Excel, and other software are essential. Head Start Positions

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action’s Head Start Program has immediate openings for the following positions:

Teachers in Nelsonville and New Lexington:  These are 40 hours per week positions working 10 months a year.  Applicants must have at least a CDA and be willing to work toward an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with preference given to those with a BA.  Salary is $12.82 - $19.32 an hour depending on educational qualifications with a full benefit package.

Janitor in Nelsonville:  This is a 17 hour per week position at $10.96 per hour, 10 months a year.  Applicants must have at least a high school diploma.

Bus Monitor in Nelsonville: This is a 10 hour per week position at $10.68 per hour, 9-10 months a year.  Applicants must have at least a high school diploma.

Classroom Aide in Nelsonville:  This is a 10 hour per week position at $10.68 per hour, 10 months a year.  Applicants must be willing to make regular progress towards obtaining a CDA within 2 years of employment.

HVAC & Weatherization Laborers

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is accepting applications for the positions of HVAC laborers and weatherization laborers in the Housing Department.

HVAC laborer applicants must be skilled in the HVAC trade.  Applicants must be able to work at heights as well as in confined spaces.  State HVAC Licensure is preferred but not required.  Applicants must be highly organized and attentive to detail, possess a valid Ohio driver’s license, have a good driving record and have access to reliable transportation.  The successful applicant must have or be able to complete training programs such as heating unit inspection, heat technician training, introduction to inspection, OSHA 10, and Lead Renovation Repair and Paint. The salary for HVAC laborer is $23,000 per year with full fringe benefits.

Our agency is also seeking applicants for weatherization laborer.  These applicants must be able to work at heights and /or in confined spaces, and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.   Applicants must be willing to complete training courses to include but not limited to: Basic Weatherization Tactics, Blower Door Use, Duct Testing/In Door Air Quality, ASHRAE 62.2, Lead Renovation Repair and Paint, and OSHA 10.  The salary for laborer is $23,000 with full fringe benefits.

Transit Aide

Logan Public Transit has an opening for a Transit Aide. The position is based in Logan and will be part time, 20 hours per week, flexible schedule. Pay starts at $10.10 per hour. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: sanitizing and cleaning vehicles, minor vehicle maintenance, and assisting drivers with passenger loading/unloading for in and out of town trips. Some lifting may be required.

Employment Program AmeriCorps VISTA

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking a curious, motivated, and organized AmeriCorps VISTA member to help us tell our story more effectively and improve our services offered.

Communication: The VISTA will help us tell our story to potential clients and community partners by developing a communication strategy and content that informs and sparks excitement around our mission and purpose. They will use their communication and design skills to create effective printed promotional materials, capture and write client stories, and develop social media content, including regular posts and short videos.

Program Development: The VISTA will also help improve current programming and develop new programming that will lead to employment opportunities for low-income youth in Hocking County. These could include, but are not limited to a mentoring program, job shadowing program, internship program, and employment workshops.

Evaluation: The VISTA will also take lead on evaluating current programs and any new programs that are developed to ensure that our programs are operating effectively and efficiently, and that they are meeting our clients’ needs.

Critical Response Associates - AmeriCorps VISTA

In the wake of COVID-19, the Southeast Ohio Foodbank is implementing new ways to secure and distribute more food effectively, raise funds to support our mission virtually, support families suffering from food and economic insecurity, recruit and welcome volunteers back to our facility, communicate the impact of the pandemic on local families, and build our overall capacity to meet the increased needs of our neighbors.

We are looking for a VISTA member who can assist with developing a position and program to help feed hungry youth. This would include researching opportunities available to expand current youth nutrition programs, researching funding and opportunities for additional programs that we could incorporate at our facility, communicating and establishing relationships with people who can help expand our current reach into new areas, and developing a list of duties and responsibilities to create a youth nutrition position within our agency.

Athens Public Transit Drivers

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking dynamic and experienced people to fill available positions for full and part time Athens Public Transit (APT) Drivers.

Athens Public Transit is a public transit fixed route service connecting Athens, The Plains, Chauncey, Nelsonville and Albany, providing transportation to the general public.  This fast paced and diverse position is responsible for transporting the public to various destinations within the service area whether for work, school, shopping or entertainment.

We are looking for applicants who are capable of working individually and as a team, possess excellent communication skills, excellent driving skills and have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.  A Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement is required.

This position will be based at our APT garage, located in Athens. The starting salary is $12.02 an hour.  Buses operate Monday-Saturday with day, eve and late night shifts.

Temporary Meals on Wheels Drivers

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is now accepting resumes for the position of Full Time Driver stationed at our Regional Food Center in Logan.  The position is responsible for delivering meals to our Meals on Wheels clients, reporting roster information, assisting in packaging and loading of meals, and serving as a liaison between the participants and the kitchen. The position would also be responsible for assisting with kitchen duties such as prepping, packaging, cooking meals, and working at congregate dining sites when a staff member is off.

Candidates must have a High School diploma or GED. Applicants must also have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. The position is full time, 40 hours per week. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, from 7AM to 3PM.  This position will only be funded for 8 months and will run from September 8th, 2020 through April 30th, 2021.

Athens On Demand Transit Drivers

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action's Athens On Demand Transit program is accepting applications for part-time drivers. This position is less than 30 hours per week at $10.10 per hour.  Hours vary weekly.

Qualifications Include:

  • High School diploma or GED completion
  • You must submit to an FTA/DOT alcohol and drug test at this zero tolerance site
  • Must pass a background check and additional training
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Must be reliable, dependable and able to drive in all weather conditions for extended periods
  • Possess basic math skills and normal hearing and vision with the aid of corrective devices, if needed
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch, kneel, push and pull, while assisting passengers that may use mobility devices
  • Must be free from fainting, blackouts, dizziness or seizures
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
