Warehouse Laborer

We are recruiting to fill five Foodbank Warehouse Laborer positions for the Southeast Ohio Foodbank & Regional Kitchen.  Job responsibilities include overseeing the fulfillment of orders; picking up donated food from grocery chains or other donors; maintaining paperwork, invoices, signature logs, and records of donated food; unloading all incoming deliveries; assisting the Foodbank Coordinator in physical inventory of all products received into the Foodbank; and assisting in the general cleaning of all warehouse, freezer, cooler, and dry storage space.

Applicants must have GED or high school diploma.  Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.  Hours of work 7:00AM to 3:00PM, Monday – Friday.  These positons are temporary and will run through June 30, 2022.

Hunger & Health Associate (VISTA)

We are excited to announce an immediate opening for a Hunger & Health Associate VISTA at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank in Logan, Ohio. As the VISTA Member at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank, you will increase community access to healthy food by establishing a new distribution location in Athens, Hocking, or Perry County. Working with healthcare physicians and foodbank staff, you will strategically select fresh food items to distribute in the interest of addressing common chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. Working to strengthen collaborations with healthcare partners and other community members, you will initiate new patient referral systems and enlist community members as volunteers to promote nutrition education at distribution sites. Finally, you will craft necessary communications materials to disseminate at distributions and on social media. These materials will serve to promote nutrition education and spread awareness of resources available in the community.

Foodbank Communications VISTA

The Southeast Ohio Foodbank has a story to tell – and we need a creative mind to help us craft it!

We are currently hard at work through the ups and downs of the pandemic. We are raising funds to support our mission virtually, supporting families suffering from food and economic insecurity, recruiting and welcoming volunteers back to our facility, communicating the impact of the pandemic on local families, and building our overall strategy to meet the increased needs of our neighbors.

We need a VISTA member who can assist with story collection efforts to document and communicate the pandemic's impact on food security. This will include photography, videography, social media content, and editorial writing to reach a variety of audiences. There is also the opportunity to recruit volunteers, create fundraising campaigns, and collaborate with Foodbank leadership in devising new communications strategies.

You will be part of a growing communications team that is passionate about economic justice in Appalachian Ohio. Day travel throughout the Foodbank's service area will be a frequent occurrence, so access to transportation is required. Mileage will be reimbursed by the agency. Additional requirements include strong visual communication and writing skills. Videography skills are encouraged but not required.

Our Head Start Program has openings for the following positions:

Full Time Classroom Aide in Glouster:  This is a 40 hour per week position working 10-12 months per year. CCMEP Specialist

We are excited to announce a Program Specialist position opening for the Hocking County youth employment programs, the Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP), and WIOA Youth Program, both funded by South Central Ohio Job & Family Services. These programs support youth ages 14-24 making the transition out of poverty through education, training, and employment. Our programs offer a wide range of services. These include tutoring and study skills training, leadership development opportunities, work experiences with participating employers, and financial literacy education, among many others.  The Program Specialist will be involved in case management, program development and implementation as well as administration of the program.

Case Management: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: intake activities, referrals to community partners, regular communication with participants, writing case notes, entering information into a state database, and follow-up.

Program Development: The Specialist will also help administer programming and develop new programming that will lead to employment opportunities for low-income youth in Hocking County. These could include but are not limited to a mentoring program, job shadowing program, internship program, and employment/career readiness workshops.

Qualifications: Applicants must be excited and motivated to make a difference in the lives of Hocking County youth. They must also be highly organized, be able to work individually and as a team, possess excellent communication skills, and enjoy working with youth and young adults.  We are looking for a creative team play that can learn quickly. Community Services Positions

Transit Driver

We are accepting applications for the position of Transit Driver for the Athens County Summer Employment Program.

Duties include: using a company vehicle to transport participants to various destinations in Athens County, communicating with participants regarding scheduling requests, and maintaining and coordinating all trip logs. Weatherization Laborer

We are seeking applications to fill available full-time Laborer positions in our Housing and Community Development Division.  The laborer position provides assistance in weatherizing homes for our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) which provides energy efficient measures in client’s homes such as blown in insulation, air sealing, and ventilation.

Heating Technicians

We are seeking to recruit two heating technicians to assist our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) program with HVAC-related work as it pertains to energy conservation as well as health and safety in residential settings.

Applicants must have at least one year of HVAC experience (two preferred) and the EPA 608 Technician Certification Type II or Universal.  Applicants must be able to work at heights as well as in confined spaces and must possess an ability to achieve production requirements.  Applicants must be highly organized and attentive to detail, have a strong work ethic, possess a valid Ohio driver’s license, have a good driving record and have access to reliable transportation.  The successful applicant must have or be able to complete training programs such as Heating Technician Training, Heating Unit Inspection, Lead EPA RRP, and OSHA 10.

Athens Public Transit Drivers

We are seeking dynamic and experienced people to fill available positions for full and part time Athens Public Transit (APT) CDL Drivers.

APT is a public transit fixed route service connecting Athens, The Plains, Chauncey, Nelsonville and Albany, providing transportation to the general public.  This fast paced and diverse position is responsible for transporting the public to various destinations within the service area whether for work, school, shopping or entertainment.

We are looking for applicants who are capable of working individually and as a team, possess excellent driving skills, communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. A Class B CDL license with passenger and air brake endorsement or a Class C CDL license with passenger endorsement required. This position will be based at our APT garage, located in Athens. The starting salary is $14.42/hour ($30,000/yr) for Class B CDL and $13.46/hour ($28,000/yr) for Class C CDL.
