Outreach Worker

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is now accepting resumes for the position of Outreach Worker stationed at our Regional Food Center in Logan. The position is responsible for conducting intake functions for programs at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank & Regional Kitchen.

The Outreach Worker acts as a liaison in promoting the programs and services of the Southeast Ohio Foodbank & Regional Kitchen, and serves as the point person for direct information and referral services.  Duties include providing application intake, maintaining confidential files, collecting data for reports and records, providing personal advocacy for individuals and families, and working in conjunction with county ODJFS offices to complete enrollments for clients.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.  Candidates also must be able to communicate effectively with low-income applicants and vendors. Candidates must be an accurate typist with computer literacy and familiarity with office programs and the internet.  Applicants must also have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Community Relations Specialist

We are now accepting resumes for the position of Community Relations Specialist stationed at our Regional Food Center in Logan. The position is responsible for the coordination of the Food & Nutrition division’s volunteer program, food distributions, as well as special projects.

The Community Relations Specialist acts as a liaison in promoting the programs and services of the Southeast Ohio Foodbank & Regional Kitchen, and serves as the point person for identifying potential new local volunteers.  Duties include organizing, scheduling, and attending food distributions, guest speaking at clubs and groups, providing tours, organizing special projects, and assisting with identifying and seeking out additional support in our service territory.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency with an associate’s degree or higher preferred.  Candidates also must have three years or more experience in a social service-related field with volunteer coordination experience, along with marketing, public relations, special events and program coordination experience. Candidates must have excellent face-to-face presence with strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule. Summer Job Coach

We are excited to announce Summer Job Coach/Supervisor position openings with the Athens County Subsidized Employment Program, a program funded by Athens County Department of Job and Family Services. The ideal candidates are community-oriented, enthusiastic about working with local youth, and have basic computer skills.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Mentoring local youth, helping program participants develop essential employment skills, visiting worksites in Athens County, and fostering a positive working relationship between summer participants, worksite supervisors and HAPCAP. Supervisory experience is a plus.

The pay is $12.80 per hour. This is a full-time seasonal position that will last 8-10 weeks during the summer. Head Start Positions

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action’s Head Start Program has immediate openings for the following positions:

Teachers in Athens, Nelsonville and New Lexington:  These are 40-hours per week positions working 10 months a year.  Applicants must have at least a CDA and be willing to work toward an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with preference given to those with a BA.  Salary is $12.82 - $19.32 an hour depending on educational qualifications with a full benefit package.

Full Time Classroom Aide: This is a 40-hour a week position, 9-10 months a year at $10.68 - $12.07 an hour. This position will travel to the different centers as needed.

Meals on Wheels Driver

The position is responsible for delivering meals to our Meals on Wheels clients, reporting roster information, assisting in packaging and loading of meals, and serving as a liaison between the participants and the kitchen. The position would also be responsible for assisting with kitchen duties such as prepping, packaging, cooking meals, and working at congregate dining sites when a staff member is off.

SNP Manager

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is now accepting resumes for the position of Senior Nutrition Program Manager stationed at our Regional Food Center in Logan. This position assists in the overall operations and program management of HAPCAP’s Senior Nutrition Programs. Candidates must possess strong skills in personal communication with elderly populations, as well as the ability to work with people of all socio-economic backgrounds.

Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining administrative requirements across all Senior Nutrition programs; training, managing, and supervising staff; overseeing the daily preparation of all meals and production tasks; conducting food quality control measures including inventory, cooking practices, recipes, and menus; and serving as a back-up or fill in for meal deliveries and kitchen preparation.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent with an Associate’s degree or higher preferred. Culinary experience is a plus.  Upon hire, the candidate is required to complete the ServSafe Training during the Probationary Period. Employment Program AmeriCorps VISTA

We are seeking a curious, motivated, and organized AmeriCorps VISTA member to help us tell our story more effectively and improve our services offered.

Communication: The VISTA will help us tell our story to potential clients and community partners by developing a communication strategy and content that informs and sparks excitement around our mission and purpose. They will use their communication and design skills to create effective printed promotional materials, capture and write client stories, and develop social media content, including regular posts and short videos.

Program Development: The VISTA will also help improve current programming and develop new programming that will lead to employment opportunities for low-income youth in Hocking County. These could include, but are not limited to a mentoring program, job shadowing program, internship program, and job search/career related workshops.

Evaluation: The VISTA will also take lead on evaluating current programs and any new programs that are developed to ensure that our programs are operating effectively and efficiently, and that they are meeting our clients’ needs.

This position will be based at the Regional Food Center, located in Logan, OH. Summer Associate - AmeriCorps VISTA

We are seeking an individual that is passionate about gardening, working with youth, and increasing access to locally-grown, healthy foods.

The Summer Garden Manager will manage a community garden that will be a worksite for 2 to 4 youth from HAPCAP’s employment programs. With the assistance of the participants, the Garden Manager will care for the upkeep of the garden and plan ways to distribute produce. They will be in charge of supervising participants, which will include giving daily direction to participants, enforcing safety protocols, and providing regular feedback/evaluation.

The Manager will also be responsible for providing programming: They will plan two agriculture-based career exploration opportunities that will be offered to program participants across all three counties. They will also provide healthy living programming, including putting together bi-weekly meal kits and recipes using garden produce to be distributed to participants. Lastly, they will also maintain an Instagram profile by sharing gardening tips, recipes, and healthy living advice to the greater public.

We are looking for applicants who are capable of working both individually and as a team, and possess excellent communication and critical thinking skills. This position will be based at the Regional Food Center, located in Logan, OH. The program benefits include a stipend and choice of education award or end of service stipend. The position will start on 6/7/2021 and end on 8/15/2021.

Heating Technicians

We are excited to announce a new position at the agency, Heating Technician.  HAPCAP is seeking to recruit three of these positions to assist our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) program with HVAC related work as it pertains to energy conservation as well as health and safety in residential settings.

Applicants must have at least one year of HVAC experience (two preferred) and the EPA 608 Technician Certification Type II or Universal.  Applicants must be able to work at heights as well as in confined spaces and must possess an ability to achieve production requirements.  Applicants must be highly organized and attentive to detail, have a strong work ethic, possess a valid Ohio driver’s license, have a good driving record and have access to reliable transportation.  The successful applicant must have or be able to complete training programs such as Heating Technician Training, Heating Unit Inspection, Lead EPA RRP, and OSHA 10.  The salary for Heating Technician is $34,000 - $39,100 per year with full fringe benefits including but not limited to paid sick and vacation leave, select paid holidays, and health, dental, and vision insurance.

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking dynamic and experienced people to fill available positions for full and part time Athens Public Transit (APT) Drivers.

Athens Public Transit is a public transit fixed route service connecting Athens, The Plains, Chauncey, Nelsonville and Albany, providing transportation to the general public.  This fast paced and diverse position is responsible for transporting the public to various destinations within the service area whether for work, school, shopping or entertainment.

We are looking for applicants who are capable of working individually and as a team, possess excellent driving skills, communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. A Class B or C CDL license with passenger and air brake endorsement is required.

This position will be based at our APT garage, located in Athens. The starting salary is $12.02/hour for Class B CDL and $11.06/hour for Class C CDL. Full-time positions include a full fringe benefits package. Both part-time and full-time positions include paid sick, vacation, and holiday leave. Buses operate Monday-Saturday with day, evening, and late night shifts.

Transit Operations Administrator
