Community Development Coordinator

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is excited to announce the position opening of Community Development Coordinator.   The CD Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of but not limited to American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (CSLFRF) programming within the region as well as Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding opportunities. This will include coordinating funding opportunities with units of local government, conducting meetings with community and regional stakeholders and the public, development and implementation of regional community development strategies, and applying for grants and other funding as appropriate and reporting. The salary range for this full time position is $46,000 - $52,000 and includes a full fringe benefits package.

Applicants should be capable of working individually and as a team, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, think creatively, and enjoy working with others. In addition, applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of being self-motivated, have the ability to multi-task while working in a fast paced environment, and be willing to learn new skills. Experience with water / sewer / broadband infrastructure is preferred but not required.  Basic knowledge of common computer programs such as Word, Excel, and other software are essential. An Associate’s degree is required and relevant work experience, education, or training may be sufficient.

Head Start Bus Driver in Athens

This is a 17 hour per week, 10-month position at $17.38 an hour.  Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a school bus endorsement and be able to pass drug and alcohol screenings.  Must have the ability to cope with stressful situations as related to pre-school and special needs children.

Early Head Start Home Visitor - Athens, Nelsonville, New Lexington

This is a 40 hour per week position working 12 months per year.  Applicants must have an Associate Degree in a related field with preference given to those with a BA.   Salary is $12.50 – $18.05 per hour, depending on educational qualifications with a full benefit package.

Full Time Classroom Aide

This is a 40 hour per week position working 10-12 months per year. Applicants are required to have a degree in Early Childhood Education or willing to make regular progress towards obtaining a CDA within 2 years of employment.  Salary is $12.50 – 14.80 per hour, depending on educational qualifications with a full benefit package.

Center Based Teachers - Laurelville, Nelsonville, New Lexington

This is a 40 hour per week position working 10 months a year.  Applicants must have at least an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with preference given to those with a BA.  Salary is $13.73 – $20.58 an hour depending on educational qualifications with a full benefit package.

Program Specialist - Perry

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is excited to announce that it has Program Specialist positions opening in Perry County with our Perry County Employment Programs, including the Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP), funded by Perry County Job and Family Services. This program supports youth ages 14-24 making the transition out of poverty through education, training, and employment. Our program offers a wide range of services including subsidized employment.  The Program Specialist will be involved in case management, program development and implementation as well as administration of the program.

Ideal candidates will be proficient with Microsoft Office products including word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail functions. Agency Relations Specialist

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is now accepting resumes for the position of Agency Relations Specialist stationed at our Regional Food Center in Logan. The position is responsible for maintaining and overseeing day-to-day relations between member agencies, feeding sites, and the Southeast Ohio Foodbank and Kitchen.  Candidates must possess strong skills in personal and public communication, as well as the ability to work with people of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds.

Duties include, but are not limited to: acting as a liaison between the Foodbank and member agencies/feeding sites in assigned counties; ensuring compliance standards are met at agency sites; planning and scheduling agency meetings and trainings; providing programming assistance for HAPCAP’s Food and Nutrition Division, including Summer Feeding and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program; screening new agencies and their personnel, reviewing agency eligibility, overseeing completion of all forms, conducting site visits, training agencies/feeding sites and their staff; recruiting new member agencies; sourcing targeted food items for the agency’s purchasing program; and promoting advocacy to aid in hunger relief policies.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency with an associate’s degree or higher preferred. Candidates must have excellent face-to-face presence with strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule. HAPCAP for Health Internship

We are excited to announce an immediate opening for an intern with our HAPCAP for Health team at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank in Logan, Ohio. As an intern, you will work to further heath access and equity for our rural neighbors.

In order to build healthy and strong communities, HAPCAP for Health bridges the gap to ensure better health outcomes, equity, and literacy within a ten-county service area. Clients who are residents of Hocking, Athens, Perry, Meigs, Gallia, Jackson, Vinton, Morgan, Washington, and Lawrence Counties are welcome to seek assistance for a variety of services through our key suite of programs including Bringing Health Home, Medicaid Connect, SNAP Application Assistance, and Food Prescriptions. Social service programs, such as SNAP, WIC, and Medicaid, are vital to ensuring long term supports for good health.

The intern will work one-on-one with neighbors to assist in completing applications, answer questions, and support throughout the benefits process. The intern will focus on building communications materials that serve to promote nutrition education and spread awareness of resources available in the community. These will be disseminated through programs, mobile markets, events, and social media. For example, the intern will work with the Bringing Healthy Home program specialist to create recipes and a newsletter for our program participants. Finally, the intern will complete other office tasks as needed including administrative tasks, food sorting and organizing, as well as attending outreach events.

Ideal candidates will be technologically savvy to include Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and iPads. Applicants should mission driven and have an interest in serving Southeast Appalachian Ohio. Hunger & Health Associate VISTA

We are excited to announce an immediate opening for a Hunger & Health Associate VISTA at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank in Logan, Ohio. As the VISTA Member at the Southeast Ohio Foodbank, you will work on the HAPCAP for Health team to further heath access and equity for our rural neighbors.

Your objective will be to increase access to healthy food by establishing groundbreaking projects and programs. Primarily, this will include establishing partnerships between local healthcare systems and food pantries to further food prescription programming by initiating new patient referral systems, data tracking methods, and test pilots.

Inasmuch, in order to meet the needs of our neighbors with high-risk health conditions, you will build out a program that specifically targets certain diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. This will include strategically building out food prescriptions to include food items that are nutritional and mindful of cultural humility.

Social service programs, such as SNAP, WIC, and Medicaid, are also vital to ensuring long term supports for good health. You will work to engage our pantry network to train and deploy their staff and volunteers to assist clients where they’re already at with applying to these social service programs.

Finally, you will focus on building communications materials that serve to promote nutrition education and spread awareness of resources available in the community. These will be disseminated through programs, mobile markets, events, and social media.

Communications VISTA

The Southeast Ohio Foodbank has a story to tell – and we need a creative mind to help us craft it!

We are currently hard at work through the ups and downs of the pandemic, and current economic state. We are raising funds to support our mission virtually, and in person, supporting families suffering from food and economic insecurity, recruiting and welcoming volunteers back to our facility, communicating the impact of the pandemic on local families, and building our overall strategy to meet the increased needs of our neighbors.

We need a VISTA member who can assist with story collection efforts to document and communicate the impact on food security. This will include photography, videography, social media content, and editorial writing to reach a variety of audiences. There is also opportunity to recruit volunteers, create fundraising campaigns, and collaborate with Foodbank leadership in devising new communications strategies.

You will be part of a growing communications team that is passionate about economic justice in Appalachian Ohio. Day travel throughout the Foodbank's service area will be an often occurrence, so access to transportation is required. Mileage will be reimbursed by the agency. Additional requirements include strong visual communication and writing skills. Videography skills are encouraged but not required.

Heating Technician

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is excited to announce a new position at the
agency, Heating Technician. HAPCAP is seeking to recruit one of these positions to
assist our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) program with HVAC
related work as it pertains to energy conservation as well as health and safety in residential settings.

Applicants must have at least one year of HVAC experience (two preferred) and the EPA 608 Technician Certification Type II or Universal. Applicants must be able to work at heights as
well as in confined spaces and must possess an ability to achieve production requirements.
Applicants must be highly organized and attentive to detail, have a strong work ethic, possess a valid Ohio driver’s license, have a good driving record and have access to reliable transportation.

The successful applicant must have or be able to complete training programs such as Heating Technician Training, Heating Unit Inspection, Lead EPA RRP, and OSHA 10. Laborer - Housing & Community Development

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking applications to fill available full time Laborers in our Housing and Community Development Division.  The laborer position provides assistance in completing units for our Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) which provides energy efficient measures in client’s homes such as blown in insulation, air sealing, and ventilation.

Athens Public Transit Driver

Athens Public Transit (APT) is looking for CDL and Non-CDL drivers to join our team!
APT is a fixed-route public transportation system that connects Athens, The Plains,
Chauncey, Nelsonville, and Albany. This fast-paced and diverse position is responsible for transporting the public to various destinations within the service area, whether for work, school, shopping, or entertainment.

This position is based in Athens, Ohio. Buses operate Monday-Saturday with day,

Logan Public Transit Drivers

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking dynamic and experienced people to fill available positions for part-time Logan Public Transit (LPT) Drivers.

LPT is a curb-to-curb transportation system serving individuals across Hocking County. This fast-paced and diverse position is responsible for transporting the public to various destinations within the county whether for work, medical appointments, school, shopping, or entertainment. LPT also provides medical trips to surrounding metro areas.

We are looking for applicants who are capable of working individually and as a team, possess excellent driving skills, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. Background checks, drug screens, and a good driving record are required. Training is provided.

Based out of Logan, this position is less than 30 hours per week at $13.47. LPT operates Monday-Friday
from 8 am to 5 pm. Hours vary weekly. Employees receive paid sick, vacation, and holiday leave.

Athens On Demand: Non CDL Driver

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is seeking dynamic and experienced people to fill
available positions for part-time and full-time Athens On Demand Transit (AODT) Drivers.

AODT is a curb-to-curb transportation system serving individuals across Athens County. This fast-paced and diverse position is responsible for transporting the public to various destinations within the county whether for work, medical appointments, school, shopping, or entertainment. AODT also provides out-of-county for individuals with disabilities.

We are looking for applicants who are capable of working individually and as a team, possess excellent driving skills, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. Background checks, drug screens, and a good driving record are required. Training is provided. Based out of Athens, the starting salary is $13.47. Full-time positions include a full fringe benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to the employee, life insurance at no cost to the employee, 401(k) enrollment after the first year of employment with an employer-match program . Both part-time and full-time positions include paid sick, vacation, and holiday leave.
