Child Hunger
One in five children may face hunger in Southeast Ohio. Children who experience food insecurity are much more likely to experience poor health and stunted development. Children who are food insecure are more likely to require hospitalization, are at higher risk of chronic health conditions, have more frequent oral health problems, and face poorer physical quality of life.
When our children have healthy foods to eat, they learn more and they do better in school. This is critical to our state's future.

Summer EBT
Summer EBT/SUN Bucks are now available for Ohio students up to the age of 19. This new program in Ohio helps families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer months. If your household is already enrolled in SNAP, you do not need to apply. For more information and to apply, visit ohiosummerebt.org.
Summer Meals
The Summer Food Service Program works to meet the needs of children facing hunger during the summer by providing them with nutritious meals and snacks when resources are not available. The program is open to ALL children 18 years of age or younger, or any person 19-21, who is mentally or physically disabled. We operate the program in Athens, Gallia, Hocking, and Perry Counties. There are no income requirements, and the only stipulation is that the meal must be eaten on-site. Meals served June 3 - August 9 2024.
