Truckload of Donated Food Arrives at SE Ohio Foodbank to Support Families Across Southeast Ohio

Today, the SE Ohio Foodbank welcomed a semi-truckload of donated food to our Logan warehouse—an extraordinary gift that will help stock shelves at local food pantries across Southeast Ohio.

The delivery included nearly 40,000 pounds of shelf-stable food.. Once distributed, this donation will provide approximately 33,320 meals for individuals and families facing hunger in our region.

This truckload is part of a nationwide effort organized through America250’s America Gives initiative in partnership with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the JustServe volunteer platform.

“This work reflects our commitment to help individuals through principles of self-reliance and service. These programs are far-reaching and rooted in compassion, designed to lift individuals, families, and communities during times of greatest need," shared Blain Maxfield, Managing Director for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Welfare and Self-Reliance Services.

Across the country, 250 truckloads of food are being delivered to communities in all 50 states as the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

For Southeast Ohio, the impact is immediate and meaningful.

At the SE Ohio Foodbank, food moves quickly from our warehouse to the communities we serve. Through our network of partner food pantries, meal programs, and community organizations, donations like this help ensure families across our region can access nutritious food close to home.

“This generous gift will make a meaningful difference for families across Southeast Ohio,” said Valerie Stillson, Public Relations Coordinator for the SE Ohio Foodbank. “We are grateful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their generosity and partnership. Gifts like this help ensure our communities have the resources they need to care for one another.”

The donation reflects a broader spirit of service that is central to the America Gives initiative. By connecting volunteers, organizations, and communities, the program aims to turn the upcoming national milestone into an opportunity for meaningful local impact.

Service organizations and faith communities play a vital role in addressing hunger and strengthening neighborhoods across the country. Partnerships like this one help ensure that food reaches communities where it is needed most.

As this food moves out across Southeast Ohio in the coming days and weeks, it will become groceries on pantry shelves, meals around kitchen tables, and support for neighbors who may be navigating difficult times.

At the SE Ohio Foodbank, we are grateful for partners who help make this work possible—and for the many volunteers, pantry partners, and supporters who help turn generosity into action every day.
