Join Hocking Athens Perry Community Action & Integrated Services for Behavioral Health for this important conversation.

What: Local nonprofit leaders will provide information on the role of Medicaid, housing assistance, food and nutrition programs, utility assistance in our local communities, and impact of potential funding cuts.

When: Friday, May 2 from 9am-10:30am

Where: Hocking, Athens, Perry Community Action, 3 Cardaras Drive, Glouster, Ohio 45732

Why: At both the state and federal levels, key programs that support low-income families are at-risk of losing vital funding. This includes Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Ohio Housing Trust Fund, as well as funding that supports our foodbank and other critical services. Appalachian Ohio is home to some of the highest poverty rates in the state and is disproportionately impacted by challenges related to low-wage jobs, an aging housing stock, and limited economic opportunity. The proposed cuts could have a significant effect on families already struggling to make ends meet. The community is invited to learn more about the consequences these cuts could have on low-income families. Attendees will hear from a panel of local leaders who will provide in-depth insights into life-saving services including community mental health, substance use disorder treatment, homeless assistance programs, and emergency food access, and discussion of how these proposed changes could hinder the efforts of local organizations providing essential help to vulnerable populations and impede economic growth across the region.

This will be a crucial opportunity to understand how these cuts could affect families and local organizations.

We look forward to seeing you and encourage you to share this event with others who may be interested.
