Athens & Perry Disaster Recovery Programs
HAPCAP is administering a Flood Clean Up funding for Athens and Perry Counties for 2018-2019 through a Disaster National Dislocated Worker Grant in partnership with Workforce Innovation and
Opportunity Act (WIOA) Area 14 and the Department of Job and Family Services.
The program utilizes dislocated and long term unemployed community members to do disaster recovery clean up from the February 2018 flooding when many parts of Ohio sustained significant damage due to severe storms, flooding and landslides. Athens and Perry Counties were included along with other counties in the state in a disaster designation.
Clean up includes removal of debris from roads, creeks, streams and other water-ways as well as demolition, reconstruction, repair or cleaning of damaged public structures, facilities and land. The work is directly related to flooding that occurred in February 2018, occur on public land, and follow certain guidelines to protect workers and the environment.
